Meggs' History of Graphic Design

In 1983, Phillip B. Meggs published the first graphic-design text book  A History of Graphic Design. The book was extremely successful. Before Meggs' died in 2002, the book was published in its 4th edition, co-written with Alston W. Purvis. Wiley Publishing just released the 5th edition of the book retitled Meggs' History of Graphic Design . The book is also available in digital formats.

I was extremely fortunate that Meggs chose to include in the 4th edition of his book, a spread from Elvis + Marilyn 2X Immortal a book published by Rizzoli in 1994 and designed by me (below).

  1. Good graphic design makes your grass look greener to those who live on the other side.
