Underground Images: Now on View in Romania
"Underground Images," the traveling retrospective of SVA's long-running subway poster series, recently opened in Timisoara, Romania, with a special three-tiered exhibition, on view at various locations in the city through October and November. MFA Illustration as Visual Essay faculty member Mirko Ilić, organizer of “Underground Images,” arranged for this latest installment with help from Ovidiu Hrin, a curator at Typopassage Tm, a self-described "micro-museum" in Timisoara that is dedicated to design and typography.

Milton Caniff
I always admired drawing in comics, not necessarily politics, of Milton Caniff. No doubt he has a huge influence on comics artists from Hugo Pratt to Frank Miller.
Because of that, I acquired these couple of frames from his comics "Steve Canyon" from 1964. I just like to touch and see original drawing with traces of pencil and white gauche corrections and see how the artist changed and corrected his mind/drawing.

Life Imitates Art
A few years back, I created a poster for SVA Underground Images traveling show. Last month the show opened in Timisoara, Romania as a part of Typopassage Tm. Organizer of the show Ovidiu Hrin and his crew decided to mimic the poster in the staircase leading to the show. I think it looks amazing, I'm only sorry I was not there.
