Ralph Steadman's present
Yesterday the postman brought me a present. It came from England in a big tube with original art sent to me by Ralph Steadman. It is very important to know that this art is a gift from him; it is not stolen.
For many years, I have admired his energy, sarcasm, and wit that shows through his art. A few years ago, we became email-pals, and I asked him to create a Tolerance Poster for me, which he did. And now, this.

"Punisher War Zone" by Joe Kubert
I recently acquired this page from the comic Punisher War Zone by Joe Kubert from 1994. I love Joe's work, especially beacuse, at first glance, his drawings look loose, sometimes almost unfinished (check out the detail of the shoe) because of how much he pays attention to details. I almost exclusively bought this particular page because of one detail that one does not notice immediately, especially in this black-and-white copy of the comic. It may look different in the color version, which I have never seen. The detail that fascinates me is how the door opened by the policemen pushed the debris in its way.
One needs to be brilliant and logical to think of that.

Interview in Hungarian Kreativ Magazine
'Mirko Ilić, a Bosnian graphic designer living in America, recently visited Hungary, where he was appointed an honorary professor at the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts (MOME). We talked about how he was immediately hired by Time Magazine and the New York Times, why he didn't call out Lou Reed while buying carrots, how he became friends with Jean Mœbius Giraud, and why he thinks posters of acceptance are being vandalized in both the East and the West. We met a kind and open person with exciting stories to tell, but who still doesn't take himself too seriously.

My JDP Poster Show in Belgrade
I am happy to share with you that today was the opening of my JDP-Yugoslav Drama Theater poster design show in Belgrade, Serbia.
The posters will be exhibited in front of the Belgrade City Library at Knez Mihailova 56 from today, September 8, until September 19.
I designed the first poster for the JDP in 2017 for the play "Einstein's Dreams." Since then, my posters have announced every new premiere for the last six seasons. Among them is a new poster for the play "The Disease of Youth" by Ferdinand Brukner, directed by Jovana Tomić. The play will premiere on Saturday, September 16, marking the continuation of this successful and fruitful collaboration.
Many of these posters were exhibited and awarded around the world. This show also celebrates 75 years of JDP, and our work together. After a decades-long tradition of nurturing strong visuality in graphic design and overall artistic effect on its viewers and the general public, the JDP presents the fruits of this success with this exhibition.

My SP Designs
A friend of mine from Novi Sad, Serbia sent me a present. It is a single vinyl record (SP) that I designed for a Novi Sad band Labaratorija, "Virgin 69" in 1982. From my hundreds of record designs I think I had the most fun with SPs. Starting with my first SP for Prljavo kazaliste, "My Father Was in the War" in 1979, to my last SP for Rage Against the Machine, "Bulls on Parade" in 1996. The reason for this is probably because at that time everybody paid less attention to SPs than to LPs. That gave me a chance to have a little bit more fun.
And probably for the same reason, some of these SPs are in the MOMA’s collection in New York and were displayed in the Making Music Modern: Design for Ear and Eye show.
