Review of Fist to Face in CommArts

In their newest issue (May/June) Communication Arts Magazine just published a very flattering review of Dejan Krsic's book, Fist to Face, about my work.

Lettering Large

Monacelli Press just announced on Amazon the release date of Steve Heller and my new book Lettering Large: The Art and Design of Monumental Typography for November 2013.

"Typography has jumped off the printed page to stand on its own as branding, sculpture, and even architecture. Days of Oris

This year, Oris, the Croatian magazine for architecture and culture invited me to be one 
of the lecturers at their yearly event, Days of Oris. 
Days of Oris has been organized since 2000 as a two-day symposium with lectures 
by prominent international and Croatian architects. 
The events will be held in the hotel, Valamar Lacroma, in Dubrovnik, from April 26-28.

Lecture at The College of Saint Rose

The Language of Graphic Design

While I was flipping through The Language of Graphic Design, by Richard Poulin, published by Rockport, I found one of the subway posters I designed for SVA from 2009 included in the book.

The poster was art directed by Michael Walsh. The creative director was Anthony Rhodes.

Stranac/Metro

Croatian comics publishing company Fibra just published two comics in one book - Stranac/Metro - both illustrated by Igor Kordej, one of the most celebrated comic artist from Croatia. Metro was a collaboration between Kordej and I from 1981-1983. I wrote the story, he illustrated it.

Kordej and I have collaborated on many different projects including comics and record covers. We were two of the founders of an infamous comics group called Novi Kvadrat.

Iowa State University Cover Illustration

In 2008, I got a call from Joseph Perez for a cover illustration for Tribes, by Seth Godin. When the book got published it became an instant bestseller. That resulted in quite a few calls for me to do similar illustrations. I even wrote about that in one of my blog posts.

Recently I was asked by Ryan Peterson to do an illustration for Iowa State University's donor Magazine, Forward. Again, they liked my concept from Tribes and asked me to repeat it again for their cover. You can see the results below.

CAAD Design Week

The Design Week at the College of Architecture, Art and Design of the American University of Sharjah in United Arabs Emirates, occurs every other year and brings together local and global architects, designers and artists to lecture and participate in weeklong workshops.

Design Week will be from Sunday, April 7th through Thursday, April 11th. This year I am one of the participants.

Absolute Stationery Design

Our work for La Fonda Del Sol, a restaurant
in New York and Summit, a restaurant in the Broadmoor Hotel, was featured in Sandu Publishing's new book, Absolute Stationery Design.
This book includes different stationery designs for hospitality, museums, corporate businesses, etc.
