I was quite surprised when I learned last Friday that my name was listed in the Discover Walks Blog post titled "35 Most Famous Graphic Designers".
"In this article, we highlight the 35 most famous graphic designers of all time. We look at their groundbreaking, innovative and influential works over time. Their designs are reflective of a wide range of styles of graphic design. Some represent minimalist and functional designs, while others are known for their bold and experimental work. Let’s delve into the article."
Despite my relative modesty, I would not dare to put my name on such a short list. On a 500-1000 name-long list, maybe...

Illustration for New York Times Science
Here is my illustration for the front page of today's New York Times Science section, art directed by Rodrigo Honeywell.
The illustration is for the article 'Rethinking the Unthinkable. Some experts want to apply recent neuroscience research to prevent poor decision making that could lead to nuclear war.'

Milton Glasers's 7-UP Poster
My recent acquisition is Milton Glasers's quite rare advertising poster; he didn't do many of these. This one was created in 1971 for 7UP. It is a bit beat up and ripped on the edges, but it is still Milton Glaser.
You can see more of his work from this period in the Milton Glaser: POP book.

My recent acquisition is a poster for Milton Glaser's one-man show in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1979, designed by Boris Bućan.
Delmonico's Opening Bell Ceremony at NYSE
I was pleased to be invited to redesign Delmonico's old wordmark and create its new logo. Delmonico's is recognized as the first fine dining restaurant United States, established in 1837. Among the many well-known patrons of Delmonico's were Theodore Roosevelt, Chester Arthur, Mark Twain, Arthur Sullivan, Lillian Russell, Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, J.P. Morgan, James Gordon Bennett, Jr., Nikola Tesla, Edward VII, and Napoleon III of France.

"Jeff Hawke" by Sydney Jordan
My recent acquisition is this comic strip of Jeff Hawke from the episode of Comet's Tale from 1974, drawn by Sydney Jordan. What surprised me is that I haven't seen a messier and clumsier original comic in a long time, especially of an established comic. The original is full of not well done white tempera corrections. But as my friend Zoran Djukanovic once said: "Only what one can see when it is printed counts."
Maybe part of the reason for this is that three months after this strip was created, the comic was discontinued.

Graphis Design Awards 2024
I designed this book with the help of Ignacio Serrano and Xiaohua Yang.
The book was published by Monacelli Press and contains well over 1100 visuals. It covers Milton Glaser's work from when he was a 12-year-old (1942) through 1975.
