As a part of the celebration there was an exhibition of “The Design of Dissent” inaugurated in its Contemporary Collection gallery. The exhibition shows design with social and political themes based off of a book by Milton Glaser and I. The show included various posters with themes such as Black lives matter, protests against Trump, the refugee crisis and climate change.

Milton Glaser's poster "Don't Eat Grapes"
I was lucky enough to acquire another very rare poster from Milton Glaser, Don't Eat Grapes, from 1969. The poster is rare because it is printed on cheap paper and its extremely fragile, that is why there isn't many left. The poster was created for United Farm Workers, AFL-CIO, Delano, California, for International Grape Boycott Day.
At the bottom of the poster there is a quote by Cesar Chavez, who co-founded the National Farm Workers Association, later renamed the United Farm Workers (UFW) union.

More Manga Comic Pages
I just recently acquired these two Japanese manga comic original pages. The first one is the final page from a book Ai to Fukushuu no Banka (Eternal song of love and revenge) Crime Yakuza story, published in Weekly Manga Sunday in 2003 and draw by Kanzaki Junji. It is very interesting how much extra drawing is created beyond the margins of the book.
And the second original is a page from Hungry Taiyou published in Weekly Manga Sunday in 2002and draw by Tomoo Kimura.
My other Japanese Manga acquisitions can be seen here and here.

Walt Disney's "Fantasia" Re-release Poster
Fantasia is
a 1940 film produced by Walt Disney which consists of eight animated
segments set to pieces of classical music conducted by Leopold
Stokowski.
The film was re-released in December of 1969 to a whole new audience clamoring for films with psychedelic visuals and dynamic soundtracks. To capture the interest of the "Summer of Love" drug-experimenting crowd, this is the most vibrant, printed in florescent colors, and unusual Disney poster. Another very unusual feature of poster is that Disney tried to integrate and at the same time hide a Mickey Mouse on the poster.
I managed to acquire a full sized (27 x 41 inches) version of this poster. But what is even more attractive about this is that I managed to also get a mini-poster (9 x 14.5 inches) which is actually printed with much more brilliant and solid florescent colors.

Frank Godwin's Rusty Riley
I was lucky enough that I managed to acquire two sequential Rusty Riley comic strips at two different auctions.
These are Rusty Riley comic strip originals by Frank Godwin from 1956. Godwin's figures, his mastery of line work, and the style in which his pen lines created depth has never been surpassed in the art of the comic strip. Created in ink over graphite and Zipatone. The strips are toned, and there is discoloration in the Zipatone shading.

The Future of Immigration
In 2003, I created this illustration about "The Future of Immigration Policy" for Rolling Stone Magazine.
Unfortunately they thought it was too harsh and ultimately decided not to publish it.

The Greed Merchants, illustration
My illustration from 14 years ago for the book cover of The Greed Merchants by Philip Augar. The book art director was Joseph Perez.
Funny, he even has a red tie.
