Li'l Abner

I just got Al Capp's original comic strip "Li'l Abner" from 1966. In this strip Li'l Abner appears in disguise, suit and dark sunglasses, but unfortunately Al Capp's racism is out in the open.
He started drawing comics in 1934 until 1977, but in the process, Capp transformed "from a progressive figure to a student-hating, pro-Vietnam War pal of Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew.

And not long afterward saw sex scandal headlines gut his fame. Almost overnight he lost everything," according to underground comics pioneer Denis Kitchen, who co-wrote Al's biography, "Al Capp: A Life to the Contrary."

You can read more about his controversial and distasteful life in the article, "Just How Bitter, Petty, and Tragic Was Comic-Strip Genius Al Capp?" www.theatlantic.com/entertainment

Steve Canyon Comic Strips by Milton Caniff

When I first saw the originals of Milton Caniff, I was quite surprised with the amount of corrections especially for a style when printed, looks like it was done with extreme ease. But as my friend, Zoran Djukanovic said, "comics is what
you see in print."
Here are two good examples of this. Daily news comic strip from Milton Caniff's
"Steve Canyon" from 1.6.1967 and 3.12.1954.

Donation to MoMA

I'm very proud to announce that MoMA (Museum of Modern Art New York) just announced the acceptance of the donation by Veljko Despot and I in their collection.
The donation included a 45rpm vinyl record and collateral material for Beatles Fan Club Yugoslavia designed by Mihajlo Arsovski in 1968.

From the History of Human Stupidity

I just got informed that "From the History of Human Stupidity" a comprehensive book of my comics created in the late 70s and early 80s went on sale today in Zagreb, Croatia. Publishing this book was made possible by the amazing effort of Stjepan Micak who collected, scanned, retouched my comics and wrote the introduction. He need to go through this great effort because I didn't preserve original art.
The book was published by Biblioteka KVADRAT which is part of Matica hrvatska publishing company.

I'mmigrant

The tshirt I'm wearing I received from Jan Sabach, graphic designer from Massachusetts. The tshirt is available at https://codeswitch.threadless.com/.
I will wear this on January 20th. In the meantime, I will probably order
a slightly smaller size for myself because I'm not a big immigrant.
