100th Anniversary of Sarajevo

Milton Glaser and I, among other artists, got invited by Sarajevo 1914-2014 project to create posters which are going to be exhibited in June of this year. Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, represents the meeting point of civilizations, cultures and religions. Milton came up with the idea for each of us to create posters which work side by side together, "meeting" each other. We divided the letters of the word Sarajevo. Milton got A, J, V and O and I got the letters R, A and E. We split the letter S.

Milton created his poster first, and it looked very modern to me. Because of that I decided that  I would create "old" poster.  Poster about past Sarajevo, 100 years ago. For that I decided to create posters with the look of filigree and crochet for both of which Sarajevo was well known.

With a little back and forth between us, we managed to match the posters in color and looks.

Below you can see Milton's poster, my poster and two possible poster combinations.

"Stop, Think, Go, Do" in Typostrate

Blog Typostrate just reviewed Steven Heller and my book "Stop, Think, Go, Do"

20th Anniversary of Schindler's List at JFF Zagreb

Director of Jewish Film Festival Zagreb, Branko Lustig produced many well known movies.
He received two oscars for producing Gladiator and Schindler's List. This year's 8th Festival of Tolerance - JFF Zagreb is dedicated to 20th anniversary of Schindler's List, with special guest Ralph Fiennes, one of the main actors of the movie.

For this event we designed the poster and billboard which are complimenting the identity of the festival.

Complaints! postcards

I just received the box that includes 72 postcards of posters from the exhibition organized by The Wolfsonian - FIU. Three of the postcards are with my art!

The poster exhibition was called "Complaints! An Inalienable Right" and was curated by Steven Heller in conjunction with Power of Design 2014: Complaints.

In The Wolfsonian Museum Daily Post blog you can read more about the exhibition and posters.

These are my illustrations of complaints:
