New Book, Graphic Style: From Victorian to Hipster

In the new Steven Heller and Seymour Chwast book, Graphic Style From Victorian to Hipster 4th Edition, I am honored to have my work represented in 3 different sections (Kinetic, Political, and Abstract Realism).

With more than 700 illustrations, it is the only wide-ranging history of graphic design to be completely visual, and this new edition has been brought up to date with a new section that encompasses trends from the last decade.

The History of Graphic Design: Vol. 2, 1960-Today - Continued

I just received two more spreads containing my work from the new Taschen book The History of Graphic Design: Vol. 2, 1960-Today. This extremely large book was written by Jens Müller and edited by Julius Wiedemann.

The first spread contains my New York Times Op-Ed page designs from 1992-1993:

The second spread features my SVA subway poster from 2008:

You can see more of my work and read more about this book in my previous post.

The History of Graphic Design: Vol. 2, 1960-Today

Taschen just announced the December release of their new book, The History of Graphic Design: Vol. 2, 1960–Today, written by Jens Müller and edited by Julius Wiedemann. This extra large-format 480-page book features "120 biographies of the era's most important designers."

I'm very flattered that the authors of the book included me as one of those 120 designers. My biography is included in the 1980-89 section of the book, while some of my work from other periods is presented throughout the other sections.

HEAD TO TOE Eroticism in the Polish posters
from Dydo Poster Collection

In the last two books co-authored by Steven Heller and I, Presenting Shakespeare: 1,100 Posters from Around the World and Head to Toe: Nudity in Graphic Design we relied heavily on the Krzysztof Dydo Polish Poster Collection. Because of his generosity, both books have a healthy representation of Polish posters. This year, Krzysztof Dydo also decided to organize a show in his Dydo Poster Gallery based on mine and Steven's selection of Polish posters, which appear in the book Head to Toe: The Nude in Graphic Design.

The show HEAD TO TOE Eroticism in the Polish posters from Dydo Poster Collection is going to be open from September 20 to October 14 2018 at the Dydo Poster Gallery in Kraków.
I hope you will be able to make it.
