Graphis Poster Annual Awards

Graphis Poster 2024 competition just announced the winners of their competition. I am glad to share with you that six of my theater posters received the Graphis Awards and they will be included in Graphis Poster 2024 book. One of the posters received the prestigious Platinum award, three received Silver awards, and two received Honorable Mention.

Collegium Artisticum by Boris Bucan

I did a more of the poster exchange and got myself this poster by Boris Bucan from 1986, for Collegium Artisticum in Sarajevo.

 

 

 

 

"Nabucco" by Boris Bucan

After many years in the darkness of storage Boris Bućan's poster for the "Nabucco" opera by Verdi finally sees the light of day. The poster was created in 1983 for the Croatian National Theatre in Split, Croatia. 

 

At that time we worked side by side at Sitotisak Studentskog Centra (a silkscreen printshop) in Zagreb, Croatia. Of course he was working on bigger projects, literally, and I was working on smaller ones. I remember looking over his shoulder while he was working on "Nabucco". I was jealous of his ingenious design.

 

Exactly 40 years later, it is still an amazing design and I am still jealous.
