Photos from "Mirko Ilić: Poster is Drama" Exhibition

I am pleased to present to you the installation photos of my exhibition Mirko Ilić: Poster is Drama. The exhibition will open at Taylor Hall Gallery, University of Delaware, this coming Monday, September 1st, 2025, and will include 45 of my theater posters. The exhibition will be on display until November 21st, 2025.

"On Monday, September 29, Ilić will visit campus to share his creative process—from the spark of an idea to a poster that can stop you in your tracks. The Artist Talk at 5:30 PM (Willard Hall, Room 007) will be followed by a Closing Reception at 6:30 PM in Taylor Hall Gallery. Students, designers, theater-goers, and the wider community are invited to experience how a single image can connect people, open conversations, and transform the way we see performance."

"Mirko Ilić: Poster is Drama"

I am very pleased to announce that on September 1st, 2025, an exhibition of my theater posters, "Mirko Ilić: Poster is Drama", will open at Taylor Hall Gallery, University of Delaware. The exhibition will be on display until November 21st, 2025.

"Mirko Ilić has spent decades redefining what a theater poster can do. Instead of simply announcing a performance, his images confront, provoke, and pull audiences into the world of a play before the curtain ever rises. Poster is Drama presents more than 45 of Ilić’s award-winning posters, charting a journey from Belgrade’s Jugoslovensko dramsko pozorište (Yugoslav Drama Theatre) to major stages in New York and beyond. The exhibition offers a rare, close-up look at how bold visual ideas—shattered symbols, charged gestures, and precise typography—become a kind of performance in their own right."

You can see more of my theater posters here.

Going through my archive, I came across these Time magazine covers.

The covers shown here do not include those I designed when I was an art director of Time magazine. These are the covers I worked on solely as an illustrator. They are presented in chronological order, though a few are missing.

Unfortunately, a lot of these cover stories are still relevant today.

My Recent Acquisition, Comic Art by Enrique Breccia

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

My recent acquisition is an unusual original page of "La Soldadera" from 1996 by
Enrique Breccia

Enrique is the son of one of the greatest comic artists, Alberto Breccia, with whom he drew his first comic. In 1968, with his father, he illustrated “Vida del Che” ("Life of Che"), a biographical Historieta of the famous revolutionary Che Guevara.

"La Soldadera" is a western-themed graphic novel by Enrique Breccia and writer Walther Slavich, first published in 1996. The story is a western that involves political intrigue and revolves around a grandpa character seeking revenge for his slaughtered family. The artwork by Enrique Breccia is described as capturing dramatic storytelling within the comic's format.

Here you can see other Enrique Breccia's work in my collection.
